Real draftsmen…

There’s something about a drawing on a large scale that I like.

You can stand back and see the complete effect but then walk up to it to appreciate the craft and quality of lines up close - instead of straining the eyes when looking at a drawing on a small pad!

The work I've seen by elbowtoe (image above) on the streets of London definitely has this kind of impact - there is a real draftsman feel to the drawings.

Another artist that I've only recently come across is Rene Almanza (http://www.renealmanza.net/). There is such depth and energy in his drawings that you find yourself intently looking at the pictures. The lines are so fluid you can't but let your eyes follow the lines.

And to really appreciate the lines, take a look at a video of him drawing one of his figures.

This kind of drawing really reminds me of another master, Alberto Giacommetti, who created intense portraits with a mass of lines.
