Kounter Kulture

BNM takes a look at Kounter Kulture: Is this London’s most exciting new art fair?

It seems like every day there's a new art fair popping up around the Capital... This week alone London's West-end plays host to The Free Art Fair, Red Dot Art Fair, Zoo Art fair and the now legendary Frieze Art Fair and over in London's cultural East-end you'll be hard pushed to walk 100 yards without stumbling upon a hidden gallery or two, not to mention the many Art Fairs that are springing up around Brick Lane and beyond.  So is there room for another new kid on the block? Opus Art’s ‘Kounter Kulture’ certainly seems to think so. Describing itself as 'a refreshingly edgy and exciting art fair', we popped along to The Truman Brewery to find out what all the fuss is about...

Opus Art is based up in Newcastle-upon-tyne so we were pleasantly surprised to see some of out favourite London artists taking centre stage, including the ever-mischievous Pure Evil who was happy to pose in front if his work, looking dapper in his new vintage Saville Row clobber.

Moving further into the exhibition to grab a glass of bubbly, we were quite simply blown away by some of the work on show from some of the emerging artists championed by Kounter Kulture. Here's just two of the incredible pieces that were on display in the area dedicated to Chinese Contemporary Art

Amazing!

The 11.500 square feet of the Truman Brewery was split into areas of Urban Art, Contemporary, Recent Graduates, Chinese Contemporary and the very best from the print world.  Other artists impressing on the night included:

David Walker

Liverpudlian Dave White

and Hush.

The show goes on until Sunday 19th October – go and check it out!
